opal and diamond 18k gold cluster ring
The Story
This gorgeous opal and diamond gold cluster centers around a colorful opal measuring 10 mm x 7.5 mm. The bezel set water opal is semitransparent and shows great play-of-color flashes in the pink/orange/yellow/and blue spectrum. Surrounding the opal are 12 Old European cut diamonds each measuring approximately 0.10 carats for a total diamond weight of approximately 1.20 carats. The Old European cut diamonds, one of our favorite cuts, are bright and sparkly.
We believe the opal and diamond centerpiece was made circa 1910-1930 and was later, possibly in the 1950s, set on the 18 karat yellow gold band you see today. We love the delicate feel of the opal with the tapered gold band. Its closed-back forms perfectly to the finger and feels amazing on.
