french art nouveau 18k gold and diamond sliding locket
The Story
A breathtaking antique piece from the Art Nouveau era. Created in rich 18 karat yellow gold, a repoussé design of a bird sitting in a bath with scrolling accents shows the quintessential Art Nouveau style of the piece. Set with 23 antique rose cut diamonds, they add a lovely sparkle to the piece. The locket shows its age in the best possible way with the rich patina making the raised work pop and gold glow.
Art Nouveau was a brief, but glorious period of design at the end of the 19th century, circa 1895-1905. Characteristic for its depiction of natural elements, particularly flora and fauna, this locket is a fantastic example of the art form.
Measuring 2.15 inches tall, it's a substantial size locket. It has an antique mirror on one side while the other holds a photo of your choice.
