An antique Victorian acrostic locket done in 18 karat yellow gold with beautiful patina. It features 6 old cut stones across the front spelling out the word REGARD; from top to bottom it reads Ruby, Emerald, Garnet, Amethyst, Ruby, Diamond. Subtle white email accents the colorful stones.
Acrostic jewelry was first introduced in the early 1800s and shortly after became a popular way of expressing one's loving feelings for another. A sentimental and colorful piece, it's sure to tug at your heartstrings.
Hand engraved on the interior of the locket "1860 To Cathy from Mother Jan 27 - '43".
It hangs from a 19.5 inch vintage open link 9k yellow gold chain, hitting at the chest and close to the heart.
