edwardian sugarloaf sapphire and diamond platinum ring

The Story

A sapphire and diamond ring set in platinum from the late Edwardian era.  Sitting at the center is a striking sugarloaf cabochon sapphire, natural and unheated, with a unique four-point shape.  Bezel set and made by hand to fit the stone, it's surrounded by a geometric floral design that's covered in hand set diamonds.  Fifty-four old single cut and rose cut diamonds give the ring a beautiful sparkle throughout with diamonds moving down into the band.  The back is open allowing light to flow through and make it glow, and is complete with scrolled engraved, a perfect end to the ring.

From circa 1915-1920s, this ring is in amazing condition. Made later in the Edwardian period, it has the delicate feel of an Edwardian piece with its floral motif surrounding the sapphire, but is picking up some of the design elements from the Art Deco era.

The sugarloaf sapphire makes the ring pop with color.  It looks amazing when worn and with its universally flattering shape and size. We love it on its own or paired with other favorite pieces. It would make a fantastic and unique engagement ring.
